Here’s a nice follow-up to yesterday’s flapper makeup post: Bésame Cosmetics has introduced an Art Deco-inspired three-piece Voluptuous Lip Colour Set including lipstick, lip pencil and an ergonomically designed lip brush.
The set, developed over a two-year period by Argentine designer Gabriela Hernandez, is a follow-up to the company’s first line, a 1940s inspired collection of metal compacts and lipsticks based on Hernandez's interpretation of designs from the era. The original collection included rouge, lipstick, powder, mascara and pencils. The petite, gold-plated items replicated authentic pieces of the period, and can still be found exclusively through select retailers listed at the Bésame Web site.
For Hernandez, the new lipstick is a labor of love: "I personally design the colors, texture, as well as researched and experimented with the ingredients to create the most luxurious lipstick products available to women today. Voluptuous lipsticks are designed to make every woman feel like a movie star - pampered, glamorous and special," says Hernandez.
The lipstick comes in a shiny black metal, enameled case that features a raised matte gold Art Deco design. The curved shape of the lipstick's tip is inspired by the soft curves of the 1930's Deco movement to be both elegant and functional.
The set includes an oval-shaped brush that was designed to fit naturally between the thumb and forefinger to allow for greater control and more professional application. The Voluptuous Lip Colour Set has a suggested retail price of $35.00 and is available online and through selected retailers.
I think the Art Deco look is full of glamour and I think sets are wonderful, especially when they come with application instructions, as this one does.
